September 22, 2011  Williamstown, WV   Local business owner and M.B.A. graduate, Debra J. “Debbie” Cunningham was the guest speaker at the University of Charleston’s Executive M.B.A. program.

Ms. Cunningham spoke about the critical challenges that leaders and managers will be facing in the future.   She discussed the vital and changing role of strategic planning in relationship to the “new economy”, how collaborative efforts will be required for continued growth, and how managers and leaders should prepare themselves for massive, rapid and constant change never seen before.   She also discussed the issue of how to put America back to work and how managers and leaders will play a key role in jump-starting our economy.

“Our country faces many challenges right now.   We must remember that we have faced challenges before and it is no different.   We have many, many excellent business leaders who have the talent and the vision that we need to move us forward.    By combining our ingenuity, creativity and business knowledge together and by beginning to see this as not the nation’s problem, but our problem, we will begin a new strategic phase in our evolution, one that will rely on the creation of new ways of doing business, new ways of viewing ourselves in the global marketplace and new ways of creating commerce and thus jobs,” she commented.
